Kamakoti Veezhinathan is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, Tamil Nadu India.His areas of specialisation includes Secure Systems Engineering, Computer Architecture and CAD for VLSI Design Systems. He completed his Bachelor in Computer Science and Engineering from Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, University of Madras in the year 1989, Master of Science (By research) and PhD from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras in the years 1992 and 1995 respectively. He was a post-doctoral student at Super computer Education and Research Centre, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and Institute of Mathematical Science, Chennai during the period 1995-1997. He worked as a Senior Design Engineer in ATI research Silicon Valley Pvt Ltd before joining IIT Madras as an Assistant Professor in the year 2001. He along with Prof. B. Ravindran founded the Reconfigurable Intelligent Systems Engineering (RISE) group at IIT Madras.
He is also an independent Director in the board of City Union Bank since 2011 and a member of the Standing Technical Committee of National Stock Exchange. His other interests include Organic Farming and is trained in Carnatic Music (Violin). His passion includes Child education and currently mentoring a rural school at his native village Vishnupuram, Thiruvarur District, The George Higher Secondary School founded by his Great Grand Father in the year 1914. Anurag Agrawal is a principal scientist at the CSIR Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology (IGIB). He graduated in medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1994, followed by specialization in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, (2003) and a PhD in physiology. After serving as a faculty member at Baylor, he joined IGIB in 2007. His research has covered a full spectrum from molecular pathobiology to informatics and pepidemiology, leading to his being awarded the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar award for Medical Sciences in 2014, the Wellcome Trust India Alliance senior fellowship in 2015 and the National Bioscience Award in 2016. Dr. Agrawal believes health data analytics, with artificial intelligence applications, to be the new frontier of medicine and is actively engaged in promoting the confluence of medicine and informatics. He formerly led the CSIR program for Enabling affordable Community Health through Information Technology (EACH-IT) and is now coordinating the DST Big Data Initiative for Public Health Epidemiology. He serves on the advisory bodies of Public Health Foundation of India, Lady Tata Memorial Trust, Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology, Centre for Brain Research, and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, amongst others, as well as an advisor for start up companies.
Vice President and Chief Scientist, TCS Research, As Chief Scientist in TCS Research and member of TCS Corporate Technology Council, Dr. Shroff is involved with recommending directions to existing R&D efforts, spawning new R&D efforts, sponsoring external research, and proliferating the resulting technology and intellectual property across TCS’ business units. He heads the Data and Decision Sciences research area in TCS as well as TCS Innovation Lab in Delhi.
Prior to joining TCS in 1998, Dr. Shroff had been on the faculty of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA (1990 - 91) and thereafter of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India (1991 - 1997). He has also held visiting positions at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA, and at Argonne National Labs in Chicago. In 1994 he was conferred the ‘Young Scientist Award from the Indian Department of Atomic Energy.
Dr. Shroff has published over 50 research papers in the areas of computational mathematics, parallel computation, distributed systems, software architecture, software engineering, and the data sciences. He has written two books “Enterprise Cloud Computing” published by Cambridge University Press, UK, in October 2010, and “The Intelligent Web”, published by Oxford University Press, UK, in 2013 (paperback ed. 2015). Dr. Shroff is an active member of ACM and ACM-India, and serves on the ACM India Council and was the founding chair of the ACM-India SIG on Knowledge Discovery from Data (IKDD), the India chapter of ACM SIGKDD.
Amandeep Singh Gill is India’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. Previously, he served as Head of the Disarmament and International Security Division in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2013-2016. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992.
He has a B Tech in electronics and electrical communications from Punjab University, Chandigarh and an Advanced Diploma in French History and Language from Geneva University. He has a PhD degree from King’s College London on policy learning.

Prof. Ashish Dutta obtained his PhD in Systems Engineering from Akita University, Japan. From 1994 to 2000 he was with the Bhabha Atomic Research Center where he worked on telemanipulator design and control for nuclear applications. Since 2002 he is with the department of mechanical engineering at IIT Kanpur, India. He was also a visiting professor in Nagoya University, Japan in 2006 and is currently a visiting professor at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. His research interests are in the areas of bio-robotics, robot-human interaction, intelligent control systems and rehabilitation engineering. Prof. Dutta has published extensively in international journals and conferences and has completed several national and international projects. At present he is also the coordinator of the Centre for Mechatronics at IIT Kanpur.
Santanu Chaudhury did his B.Tech (1984) in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engg and Ph.D (1989) in Computer Science and Engg. from I.I.T, Kharagpur, India. Currently, he is Director of CSIR-CEERI Pilani and Professor, on lien, in the department of Electrical Engg. I.I.T Delhi. He was also Dean, Undergraduate Studies at IIT Delhi. He had been Schlumberger as well as Dhananjoy Chair professors at IIT Delhi. He was awarded INSA medal for young scientists in 1993. He has received CDAC-ACSS award for his scientific achievement in 2012. He is a fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering and National Academy of Sciences, India. He is also fellow of International Association of Pattern Recognition. His research interests are in the areas of Computer Vision, Robotics, Embedded Systems and Machine Learning. He has published more than 250 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings and a number of patents. He has been on the programme committee of a number of international conferences like, ICCV, ACCV, ICPR, ICVGIP, PReMI etc.
Shri Alok Mukherjee, did his MSc in Physics with specialization in Electronics from Fergusson College at Poona and subsequently M.Tech in Computer Science also from Poona University. He joined DRDO in 1988.His first appointment was in Snow & Avalanche Study Establishment at Himachal Pradesh. He was instrumental in setting up the Computer Centre there for voluminous weather and satellite data acquisition and analysis.
He joined Research & Development Estt at Pune in 1991. Initially he was involved in instrumentation related to projects on Infantry Combat Vehicles. The two projects viz. Armoured Engineer Recce Vehicle and NBC Recce Vehicle are in production and are in use by the Army.
Since 2000, he has been working in the field of Robotics and specifically unmanned vehicles or mobile robots for hazardous material handling and other Combat Engineering applications. He has lead a team in development of the first indigenously developed robot ‘Daksh’ for handling of Improvised Explosive Devices which has undergone evaluation by the Army and is in production.
He has also developed the UAV- ‘Netra’ which is a quadrotor meant for day and night surveillance. This system is also in production with more than 250 nos. in the field and in use by the Army and Paramilitary forces involved in anti-terrorist and counter-insurgency operations as well as the Police and Disaster Management personnel.
He successfully led a team from DRDO for an Indo-Singapore Collaboration on Autonomous Vehicles.
Has been conferred with the 2003 - H R Toshniwal Gold Medal by the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) in recognition of distinguished contributions in the field of Electronic Instrumentation. He was awarded the prestigious “Agni Award” in 2007 as a team member for self-reliance for development of “NBC Reconnaissance Vehicle”. He has once again been conferred with the “Agni Award” in 2011 as a team leader for Remotely Operated Vehicle –‘Daksh’.
He is currently the Head of the Robotics at R&DE(Engrs), DRDO where he is engaged in development of a multitude of Unmanned Ground Vehicles for application in surveillance, hazardous material handling, disaster management, radiation/chemical contamination detection and explosive disposal.

GH Rao (or “GH” as he is called) is a corporate officer of HCL Technologies. He currently heads the Engineering and R&D Services (ERS) practice at HCL that focuses on providing product and platform engineering services to leading OEMs, Tier 1s, ISVs and Enterprises globally.
